JDN Property Services Introduces a 4 Day Working Week and a New Business Structure
As we approach 2026, JDN Property Services is making important changes to secure our future, protect our workforce and continue delivering a high standard of service to our clients across Central Scotland. The economic climate has placed significant pressure on businesses within the construction and property sectors, with rising costs and industry shortages affecting day to day operations.
Rather than wait for conditions to improve, we have chosen to act. We have restructured our business to ensure we remain strong, sustainable and ready for the future.
Introducing a 4 Day Working Week
From 2026 our team will move to a 4 day working week. This is part of our long term plan to improve wellbeing, strengthen productivity and create a more balanced working environment.
This change supports:
Better focus and output
A more structured week allows staff to perform at a consistently high standard during working hours.
Reduced fatigue
Our work in damp proofing, timber preservation, building repairs and fire and flood reinstatement requires accuracy and concentration. A healthier workforce delivers better results.
Greater staff retention and attraction
High quality tradespeople are in demand. Offering a modern working pattern helps us keep good people and attract new talent.
Staff Benefits That Support Our Team
Alongside the move to a 4 day week, we remain committed to providing a strong benefit package for all employees. JDN already offers:
Private healthcare coverage for staff .
The option to extend this healthcare to employees’ families
Death in service cover, giving peace of mind and financial protection.
These benefits will continue in 2026, reinforcing our belief that investing in our workforce is investing in the future of the business.
Emergency Services Will Continue Without Interruption
It is important to reassure our clients that our out of hours emergency service will remain fully active.
Insurance reinstatement, fire and flood events and storm related damage require immediate action. Our dedicated emergency response will operate as normal, ensuring insurers, loss adjusters and property managers continue to receive fast and reliable support at any time of day.
This side of our operation will not be affected by the move to a 4 day week.
Restructuring for Stability in a Difficult Economy
To protect the business for the long term, we have carried out a full internal restructure. This ensures JDN remains efficient, compliant and financially stable during an unpredictable economic period.
Our improvements include:
Clearer workflows between management and site teams
Stronger planning and scheduling
More accurate reporting and quality oversight
Better use of systems and technology to reduce waste
A disciplined approach to financial management
These changes allow us to remain competitive while continuing to deliver a trusted and professional service.
Preparing the Next Generation of Trades and Technicians
Our industry is evolving. Damp control, timber treatment, building preservation and insurance reinstatement all require technical understanding and compliance awareness.
To support the future of the business, we are expanding our approach to recruitment and training. Our aim is to give todays youth the right skills for tomorrows workplace.
Our focus areas include:
Technical training from day one
Teaching professional standards and customer service
Developing confidence with digital tools and modern reporting
Creating long term career paths within our specialist fields
We want to help build a skilled workforce that will carry the industry forward, and JDN intends to be part of that development.
Looking Ahead to 2026 and Beyond
The changes we are making are not about reducing service. They are about building a stronger and healthier business that can continue to grow. The introduction of the 4 day working week, our updated internal structure and our investment in future talent all support a single objective. To protect the quality, reliability and professionalism that JDN Property Services is known for.
We are proud of the steps we are taking and confident that these changes will benefit our clients, our staff and the long term future of the company.
